Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that can develop after exposure to a terrifying event or ordeal in which grave physical harm occurred or was threatened. It is a severe and ongoing emotional reaction to an extreme psychological trauma to the extent that the usual psychological defenses can not cope with the anxiety. It is critically important that those individuals suffering from PTSD receive treatment. Untreated PTSD can have devastating and far reaching negative consequences on everyday personal functioning, on family and on relationships.
Trauma Counseling, in conjunction with medication management, is the preferred method of treatment for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder.
